Isn't there a way to make in-game location coordinates appear?

And hello again!

(And no, Enigma, I don't!)

Hey, it's Ark! Welcome back!

And I do not know how to turn on the coordinates, but it is possible.
ODST is all about switches, isn't it?

Ark, do you mean those Pan Cam-style coordinates?
I am tree.

Ark, do you mean those Pan Cam-style coordinates?
Those are all the coordinates we have in ODST. (Oh and hi!)
I'm a little surprised that this hasn't been that much discussed before...maybe it was in an another thread?

Anyway:
Quote from: Halopedian
The coordinates display in a white, sans-serif font, aligned to the upper-left corner of the screen. The coordinates consist of three space-separated numbers, followed by a slash, followed by two more space-separated numbers, another slash, another number, and then either "[normal]" or "[pan-cam]". Here is an example of coordinates that may be shown:

212.377 159.564 137.233 / 91 -1.74 / 1.000 [normal]

The first three numbers show your exact position in the map, relative to its center. The numbers are a three-dimensional coordinate pair. The first two coordinates are your X- and Z-coordinates (lateral position); the third coordinate is your Y-coordinate (vertical position). You can never go farther than 50000.000 units from any map's center, though no map's playable area ever comes close to that size.

The next two numbers show the camera's angle of rotation. Both values are in degrees. The first value shows your lateral orientation- if it's 0, you're looking east; if it's 90, you're looking north. The second value is your vertical orientation- if it's 0 or 180, the camera is level; if it's 90, the camera is looking straight up; and if it's -90 or 270, the camera is looking straight down.

The third number is the camera's speed, which can only be adjusted while in Pan Cam mode. Following that is the current camera mode.

Therefore, the ubiquitous number cannot be used as a coordinate in the state that it is. However, since you can (seemingly) get about 50 000 units far from the center, it would be possible that the dots in the code represent the break between the coordinates (xx.zzzz.yyyy). Since there are no decimals in this model, the coordinates would be (55.000,6922.000,3840.000).

Worth trying?

I believe that's what Ark was getting at, and why she posted that query here.

The description in the Halopedia is incorrect with regard to X, Y, and Z.  The Z-coordinate is the third number, not the second.  So it's X, Y, and Z (as it should be).  Simply jump to see the change in Z.

I poked around a little in ODST with this:  I think it's definitely going to require you to be out of map to obtain a Z of 3840.

And for a second time, I revive this thread, mostly to point out that the images seem to be broken. To me, it doesnt make much sense for any of the three sections of te Ubiquitous Number to be the height of the player/camera except for 55. Unless I have a misconception in the size of the coordinates intervals, those other numbers would require being stupidly far out of the map. The only thing I can think of being able to see that high up would be to see the large Y shape created by the highways, as shown by Imppa (I think). Because Scat found the number used previous to ODST, it might be possible that Bungie isn't telling us about something new, but warning us that we forgot something previously. What if there was something awesome in Halo 3? The incessant appearances of the number is a pretty apparent plea for attention, but a plea for what?

EDIT: If yore not buying that Halo 3 stuff, let me point out that the first section is 55, and there are five plinths. Could be something.

Thank you for being persistent and pointing this out again, Nightcrafter.  All of the image links were to the old domain, so I updated the original post and the images are there now.

Thanks to some very friendly generosity some time ago, I received my own (unopened) ODST controller.  At some point I will have to scrutinize it more closely and compare to what we have already noted.

Perhaps the number was just a more obfuscated coding of the Bungie IP (as was seen on the Reach controller) and they dumbed things down the second time around.

It might not be a bad idea to simply ask them, since doing so got us a lot of helpful info regarding the missing BOB spawn on TotS.

Does anyone know what Bungie's phone number is? Because 556-992-3840

EDIT: Busted, called it and it's just a message saying it's a "Non-Working Number"
