Winter Contingiency Vents. Kind of.
« on: March 19, 2011, 22:47:47 »
A searching party compromised of me and Phantasm were out on Winter Contingency. We got to the part where Jorge throws the flare, and you try to kill the zealot elites.

Instead of chasing after them, we decide to see how high we can get inside the room (altitude, nigma). We manage to get up to these windows. Phantasm is brought down by the strength of my bullet, and spawns inside the room with windows. Kinda like a vent. It's nothing special, but it's pretty cool. Maybe Phantasm can get the pictures.

If you mean getting in the windows I did that at the end, of course though I have the feeling you mean something else, also did you know that you can climb the wall at the end and get onto the scaffolding above, my shots are not there anymore so I can't show them
Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.

When Russian troops got into Berlin in WWII whenever the street they were going down was barricaded, it took them 2 hours and 15 minutes to get through, 2 hours laughing hysterically and 15 minutes tearing the barricade down.

The scaffolding is right before you encounter the data piece and get ambushed by zealots. Yes, we've known about that for a while, we actually went up there and cinematically glitched the cutscene by killing each other up there.

It's after that, as previously stated, (where Jorge throws the flare) there are windows. I accidentally spawned 'asm in one of these rooms.

No I mean directly at the end before you press the switch

These vents are where you see the first Zealot after the cutscene.  The one in that long hallway that has the gas tanks on the right side, and it's got a concussion rifle.  Instead of taking the right-hand turn to follow the Zealot, keep going straight.  You can stack boxes to get near a ledge up high, but you need to stand on someone and do a double-jump in order to make it up there.  Then there's windows at the ledge, made of unbreakable glass.  You can't get in there on your own, but if you kill the person you stood on to do the double-jump (ie., ME!), they'll spawn behind the glass in an empty room.  It's kinda small, and completely empty, but maybe we can find something, somewhere, if there are these rooms in other locations as well.

I'll try and get screenshots and a video of it, but it's at the very end of an hour-long video, so we may need to get a shorter video made.  I don't want to do a half hour's worth of fast-forwarding.
