Safezone under the Spire

I chanced across this little video, and learned about a secret box room far underneath the Spire.  In this room is a safe zone, that seems to have no purpose.  I think it might be worth investigating.

Might be the Safe Zone of the whole playable area.

That was the theory tested in the video, and it was false.  After deleting it, the person still got a countdown when they left the area.

Hm, if that's the case, where are the boundaries?  Will it add to the number of available safe zones in the level?  If it's no different from the rest of the safe zones, what happens if we replace it with a kill barrier?

He's got blue flames (check the part where he uses the Machine Gun), which means he could do whatever he wants - including resetting the 10-seconds-to-death.

I think he modded it to make him invincible. After the timer ends it doesn't know what to do because it assumes he is dead. Which is why you don't see a timer.

Well, it may be that he only used the mod to avoid the death barrier. Why not give this a shot, and see if it's possible to get into that box at all, without mods? Say, make a trail of teleporters by carrying a receiver node as far as you can before you die, then doing the same thing but starting by going through the last one you made? I'm horrible at describing, so just look up how to get the Sandbox skull using bubble shields to see what I mean.

Thanks to this mod, we now know that the cube exists. Now let's see if there's a legitimate way to get to it.
