Winter contingency Whack a mole?

Its hard to explain, at the very end on this mission where you have to activate the power, just before the power switch room there is power cores that move up and down. Do you think this might be a secret game? like whack a mole?

I played around jumping core to core, only one of them goes all the way down...at least from what I saw. But who is to say this isn't like the IWHBYD skull..or I guess it could be another Squid hedge.

Interesting... I remember seeing these.

We should definitely try a couple things with these pillars... Although we did figure out that the stonehenge doesn't do anything except that if you stand on it the engineers go crazy....

No switch, it just goes all the way down and the doors close. then the doors re-open and it comes back out.

or maybe me jumping block to block did it....

Interesting facts about the blocks: The place they fall down into, is a room filled with water. You can actually shoot into the room with two techniques. One, is that you go to the side of the room, and shoot through the window. Your bullets go through. Two, is to stand on the "blue" pillar, position yourself so the switch to end the level is to your left, and then shoot down. You should find the hole in the ground.

I think 2 more pillars are up out of the ground when you enter the room, but then they go down into the water. Bodies have no interaction with the blocks.

The first time I saw them I knew there was something fishy. Seriously: on my first playthrough I spent quite some time trying to figure these blocks out.
No results, so I didn't even bother posting here...

My curiosity was piqued when I tried to take cover from the Zealot, then have the block go down and reveal me like I was in some action comedy.  That, and all the pretty lights.  Ok, mostly the pretty lights.

Anyway, it might be something we have to stand on.  Can we stand on the blue one when it goes down, then have it raise us up, so we can jump from block to block?  It might be a complicated game of hopscotch.

I would assume that the liquid is some sort of coolant to keep the servers from over heating...

as for some secret ill check it out too! makes me feel like odst a little.
