How to Make a Report in Report In!1. Make sure you are reporting something new! Use the forum's
search function and consult the
Summary of Findings if you are unsure. You can also browse the
Image Gallery for content which may have previously been submitted.
2. Research your find before you post! Is it possible that what caused your find to happen was something other than what you currently assume? Can you simplify your procedure for recreating the find? Does difficulty setting matter? Can your find be accomplished without bump glitching or getting out of map? If you made your find in Theater Mode, can it also be found in-game?
3. Provide proof of the find you are reporting. You must provide a Valid Form of Proof as described in the SGP FAQ "
How To Provide Proof of ODST Findings".
4. Write a clear description of your find. This should be done in such a way that any readers can understand what was found and how they can reproduce the find themselves. Naturally, you should follow the posting rules in the
SGP Readme, especially numbers six and seven.
5. Be prepared to respond to questions related to your find. It always helps to anticipate questions and provide the answers in your initial post to limit your need for further explanation!
6. Keep an open mind! Sometimes your find is only the tip of the iceberg and will require others to help you "get to the bottom of it". Remember that we are a community, and discoveries are often a team effort!
7. Don't be overly concerned with being the "first" or getting credit for your "new discovery". If you are in fact the original discover of your find, then your post in Report In! will serve as proof. It will eventually make it into the SGP Summary of Findings if the community feels it is important and when the SGP admin isn't too bogged down with other work!
