Pulse, it started on ODST. During cutscenes, you would keep fiddling with your control stick and at certain points (or was it just one?) the camera in the cutscene would go in that direction to reveal an offscreen easter egg, such as Buck playing with a monkey at the ending scene, with Johnson talking to Virgil.
