Intel / Re: Code on Reach Lanyard
« on: February 12, 2011, 21:45:35 »
Good observation night, "that guy" does indeed mention lanyards (post number nine). Perhaps this thread should me merged with that one? Also, I wonder if thatguy could confirm the code's presence, if they are indeed the same kind of lanyards.

for what it's worth, the guy on the big forum claims he's in Singapore, and I'm not sure if he got it from a GS package or what. it certainly makes sense for them to be the same or similar, though. I can't image lanyards were the number one launch product priority...

Intel / Code on Reach Lanyard
« on: February 12, 2011, 16:45:01 »
Hey guys, your favorite lurker here.

I came across someone on the big forum who noticed a strange string of numbers and letters on a lanyard that he got in a special release goodie bag thing. He wondered if there was anything to it, but the other fellows there shot him down pretty quickly. However, I sent him a message and got him to send me the code anyway. Here's the message he sent.

"The 'code' is J211L814"

Not very wordy or descriptive, but there ya go. We kind of have to take his word for it, unless one of you has the same thing.

As far as what the lanyard itself look like, I'm not really sure. However, I assume it's similar to this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290517269773&nma=true&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&rt=nc&si=UGiYVuNnc47Ek3xZODx8vbbQCRA%253D

Anyway, take a look and see what you think. Oviously, it could be nothing but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Halo Reach General Discussion / Re: Easter Egg > Septagon

It means that they don't want people associating Halo with their Marathon logo too much any more, which could mean that they're currently working on another Marathon-Universe game and they want it to be independant from the Halo franchise.
Either that, or 343 wants to be able to completely take the reigns without being associated/confused with Bungie later on.

As a further note, I wonder if this isn't just another "Reach Racer" type mode, as seen here http://redvsblue.com/archive/?id=1567.

An in-campaign race mode for Banshees? Maybe. I know nothing about this switches, though

I'm thinking that the banshees, if they do anything, must involve playing 4 player co-op, a-la Coastal Highway/4 Mongeese

I would be happy to; unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to reply to the signup threads. Is there some kind of block designated for "Newbies?"

Hello team SGP,

I've been a fans of your guys since the days following ODST's release, when we were all excited about discovering the true meaning of the mysterious glyphs hidden away there. I've spent a lot of time lurking around, watching your adventures, but have done very little to contribute. Now that I have a little time, though, I'd like to offer my services, such as they are, towards the exploration of Reach. I'm probably quite a bit behind in the easter egg hunt, but I'll be keeping an eye out for anything interesting. Also, if any of you would like some assistance or company during your campaign playthroughs, feel free to drop me an invite and I'd be happy to join you. I live on the east coast of the US, for those it matters to.

My gamertag is jawjabulldawg.

Good hunting, and I hope to see you all on the battlefield :)

Cold glitcher. The only reason Halsey is on that plaque is because they did not know that she commandeered the Beatrice and traveled to Onyx.

whoa, whoa, whoa, did she really take the Beatrice? as in THE Beatrice? as in the one that guided Dante through Heaven because Virgil wasn't allowed in? another interesting Dante reference. I doubt it was intentional, but who knows with these guys

I've also heard the SI say,
"Where are you Sadie?"

It was a while ago, when I was working on beating the game on Legendary, though I don't know if that makes a difference. It was at one of the recruiting centers. I was especially taken aback because typically the SI only says prerecorded messages. This was very distinctly robotic and sounded forced out, like it was obvious he wasn't used to forming nonrecorded sentences, it reminded me of the voice of Wall-E, if you've seen the movie.

I don't have any proof, but has anyone else heard this?

Maybe difficulties have certain dialogue that can only be heard with that difficulty
Did you have IWHBYD Skull on?

Actually, I probably did. I typically keep Bday grunts and IWHBYD on by default.

Theorizers / Re: Cut Scene 's
« on: December 10, 2009, 22:36:27 »
Don't get too excited enigma. If it were that easy, there would probably be many more cutscene areas from Halo 2/3/ODST already found. The reason the one i showed you was able to be found was because it was so big, it came right up to the edge of the scenery and the finders were able to sneak in through a loading glitch in forge. Most other cutscenes are probably embedded under multiple layers of scenery that would be much more difficult to get through. Additionally, I'm skeptical that the "legendary" ending is accessable at all since I'd bet is has it's own "level" similar to "Prepare to Drop"

I could be wrong though, and this is certainly something to keep in mind. Maybe you should ask the Ghost of Squidhenge :P

Most of the cutscenes are indeed filmed "in-game".

An obvious example of this is the scene at the beginning of the NMPD HQ level where the pelican is chased by banshees and Romeo shoots at them with the sniper (the level even starts with three shots having been fired from his clip).

A less obvious example can be taken from Halo 3. If you remember the scene where the characters have gathered in the Elite flagship to chase the brutes to the Ark, they're in the bridge of the ship talking about saving cortana and kicking covenant ass and stuff. That scene is actually filmed "in" the level "The Ark", and you can even get into the bridge where it's filmed, which is hidden inside a mountain. There's a youtube clip here showing you how to do it, if you care to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zumz4Ie5wvY

So, it stands to reason that most, if not all, cutscenes are filmed somewhere "inside" levels, though they're often cleverly hidden behind scenery.

An exception  might be scenes that have their own "level." An example of the is the "Prepare to Drop" opening scene, which probably stands alone from the other stages. Another example might be the post-credits ending cutscenes, which likely have their own "levels" as well.

Did anyone watch it today? You can watch the first episode: The Babysitter through today on Waypoint for free. It's pretty awesome, though the anime spin is weird. Anyway, I highly recommend watching it to everyone. I wont ruin the plot for you, but it's the first time ever you get to see a spartan's FACE. Yep
